Worldwide, some of the fastest growing and most spiritually healthy urban churches are cell-based. This small group ministry has proven successful across cultural boundaries and ethnic divides. It is certainly true here in Jinja. Cell groups began meeting and thriving in the Jinja Church of Christ in August of 1998.
During the past couple of years, we have seen how cell groups can reach the outlying areas of Jinja as well as Jinja town. Lack of transportation for many Ugandans is the reason why cell groups meeting throughout and around Jinja are so successful. Cell groups are also effective as everyone is stimulated to share the good news of Christ - not just missionaries or preachers. Cell groups will provide for significant growth while maintaining the benefits of small fellowship. They will also provide accountability structures and opportunities to nurture leaders.
