ImageWe have now been back in the USA for over a month. Our tour has taken us from an arrival in Detroit to OKC, a drive to Phoenix, up to Denver and then back to Oklahoma. We then made our way down to Austin, TX via family in Ft. Worth. We will be here for another couple of weeks before we head up to Detroit to spend some time with our supporting congregation in Rochester Hills. It has been wonderful to reconnect with friends and family, and the return has been accompanied by several realizations concerning both American and Ugandan cultures. We thought that we might share a few of these with you. Here are the top 10 ways we know that we are not in Uganda:

  • 10. No ants on our toothbrushes when we wake up in the morning
  • 9. Unless it is in the middle of the road, we can drink the water from anywhere without fear.
  • 8. Gas is so CHEAP! (it was about $4.25 per gallon when we left Uganda)
  • 7. We can see more than 3 pages per hour on the internet.
  • 6. Food tastes great! Not only that, but we can get whatever we want within 15 minutes.
  • 5. If we see a car coming head on in our lane it is probably our fault.
  • 4. If someone is talking about us behind our backs we can actually understand what they are saying.
  • 3. Our feet are not a brownish-orange color at the end of every day.
  • 2. People actually show up on time for things and start events without us there.
  • 1. Every day we get to see and hug on people that we have been missing for a year and a half!

Thanks to everyone who has blessed us throughout our time thus far on our furlough. Please continue to pray for our safe travels and for our team in Jinja. Please feel free to contact us while we are here in the states (Spencer until May 8, and Emily until May 20) at 405-496-2008. May the peace of Christ be with you all.
